Veteran security executive joins storied corporate risk management agency

September 01, 2017

Pinkerton, a global provider of corporate risk management services and solutions, has appointed former Caterpillar CSO and Director of Information Risk and Enterprise Security Tim Williams to serve as Vice Chairman. President of Pinkerton, Jack Zahran, made the announcement. Based out of Nashville, Tennessee, Williams will provide support for Pinkerton’s robust portfolio of clients around the world, including pursuing new opportunities to help current and potential clients advance their corporate risk management initiatives. Williams has rich experience in both domestic and international corporate security and has conducted significant research into fraud and related ethics issues, as well as written extensively on these subjects.

“Pinkerton continues to grow and expand, and we continually look for new ways to strengthen our global intelligence network and provide the resources needed to help business organizations around the world keep their people, physical property and proprietary information safe and secure,” said Zahran. “As a long-time corporate security professional, Tim possesses the knowledge and experience needed to help us do just that for our clients, and his track record of successfully implementing security and risk management strategies will be an incredible asset to our growing team.” Prior to joining Pinkerton, Williams was in charge of the continued growth of all aspects of global security for Caterpillar for more than a decade and spearheaded numerous risk management initiatives. Before Caterpillar, Williams served as chief security officer for Nortel a global networking corporation, and as an International Security Coordinator for Proctor & Gamble before that. He has authored several articles on fraud and ethics and co-authored the book Fraud: Bringing Light to the Dark Side of Business. Williams was awarded the 2013 Distinguished Service Accolade from the International Association of Professional Security Consultants for significant contribution to the security profession and the 2016 CSO Compass Award for visionary leadership in the security field by CSO Magazine. He served as President of ASIS International in 2008 and as Chairman of the Board in 2009. Williams holds a master of business administration from the University of Toronto.
