Per reports, the recent attacks on Islamic clerics, schools, and mosques in Indonesia are part of a “black campaign” to stoke religious and ethnic divisions ahead of the provincial elections in June 2018 and the parliamentary and presidential elections in April 2019.

Technology & Information Risk:

Earlier this month in India, a security flaw was discovered that revealed details of one million patients of Apollo Hospitals, a leading corporate hospital chain. According to French cybersecurity researcher Elliot Alderson who recently revealed security flaws on various platforms said that the personal details of millions of people of Apollo Hospitals were at stake and that a serious security issue was discovered in the system.

Operational & Physical Risk:

Ford has issued a recall in North America for approximately 1.4 million vehicles due to potential loosening of steering wheels and the propensity for steering wheels to detach from the steering column. The recall particularly affects Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars between model years 2014-2018.

Market & Economic Risk:

Japanese automaker Toyota has announced that it was temporarily halting testing of self-driving cars on public roads in the U.S. following a fatal accident involving an Uber car in Tempe, Arizona on March 18. Further, the company said that it would “resume testing at an appropriate time.” Uber has already suspended testing in Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Toronto while investigations by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are ongoing.
