  • Security researchers have recently found that Chrome and Firefox extensions were collecting user data from 45 major companies, such as Apple, Walmart, Amazon, Palo Alto Networks, SpaceX, and Skype. 
  • As reported on July 21, Google is sending teams of employees into the streets of a number of cities, who approach people and ask random people if they are willing to help the company improve facial recognition technology for phone unlocking by taking numerous selfies with phones the team members provide. 
  • Media outlets reported last week that cyber-security experts from Gigamon Applied Threat Research detected a new malware from FIN8, a financially-motivated cyber-criminal organization, which targets point-of-sale devices to steal credit card information.
