A financial industry client conducted a termination of an individual deemed to be high-risk due to a long history of insubordinate actions and mental illness.
Pinkerton deployed an armed, plain-clothed agent to support the manager throughout the termination. The manager and the agent escorted the employee to her desk to remove all personal items. While cleaning out her desk the employee retrieved a knife, held it to her own throat and threatened to kill herself. The Pinkerton agent removed the manager from the area and contacted the authorities. The agent then calmed the subject and began verbally de-escalating the situation until the authorities arrived and placed the subject into custody.
The Pinkerton agent successfully removed the client from a potentially harmful situation and contained a significant threat. No one was harmed during this situation.
